The pressures of long working hours, minimum wage, and an overwhelming desire to get on in life brought THE GRIND to a standstill. Malone was focusing on applying to Glasgow School of Art (in which he was deservedly successful) and Johnstone was trying to get a foot on the career ladder in any way possible. In August 2014 Johnstone's wife got a job in Edinburgh and the pair relocated. Unemployed and with time to kill he threw himself into learning InDesign and Photoshop (previously the domain of Malone) and reviving THE GRIND.
This was Johnstone's first foray into the world of graphic design. The various layers are stylised photographs taken around Edinburgh at the same time as his relocation to the Capital. It was also around this time that Johnstone met Craig Allan of [Untitled] Falkirk; an event that would prove to be a turning point in the history of THE GRIND.
